Early Life & Career 

She was born Lucianne Steinberger in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dr. Raymond Leonard and Lucy Jane (née Moseley) von Steinberger. She was reared in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Alexandria, Virginia, where her father was a federal physicist and her mother was a physiotherapist.

She went to Alexandria High School but left when she was 16 to start a career. She divorced William Cummings, the high school sweetheart she had fallen in love with, after three years of marriage. 

Goldberg started her writing career at The Washington Post when she was still a high school student. Goldberg made the decision to submit an application for the position of press assistant in Lyndon Johnson’s futile 1960 campaign for president.

After John F. Kennedy won the Democratic nomination, she was offered a position at the Democratic National Committee and then a position on Kennedy’s Inaugural Committee.

Despite the fact that she claimed to have worked for Kennedy’s White House staff, her name does not appear on any staff records, according to The Washington Post.

She replied that she first worked in public relations at the National Press Building before shifting to the Old Executive Office Building to do opposition research.

Lucianne Goldberg, a literary agent, died at the age of 87. She was a key player in President Bill Clinton’s impeachment in 1998 as a result of his involvement with Monica Lewinsky.

Political commentator and author Jonah Goldberg revealed on Twitter on Thursday that his mother had gone away on Wednesday at her home. The cause of death was left out of his statement.

Longtime conservative activist Lucianne Goldberg gained notoriety when she advised her friend Linda Tripp to covertly record Tripp’s conversations with Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern who had an extramarital affair with Bill Clinton. Lucianne Goldberg’s company specialized in right-wing literature.

Kenneth Starr, a special prosecutor investigating Clinton’s relationship with Lewinsky, needed the 20 hours of tapes Tripp took of Lewinsky’s conversations with her.

The Senate cleared Clinton of all charges on December 19, 1998, despite the House of Representatives has impeached him for having lied under oath about having sex with Monica Lewinsky.

Lucianne Goldberg’s cause of death 

Her family and any internet publications did not immediately provide the reason for her death. On October 26, 2022, Goldberg passed away in her Weehawken, New Jersey, home. Before she passed away, she had kidney and liver failure.
